Practice Philosophy
Our aim is to give our patients the highest possible quality of care, by ensuring excellence in all aspects of our practice. We endeavour to provide patients with the best and most current treatments, methods, materials and equipment within our resource capabilities to ensure that the patients receive the highest quality of service. We believe that patients come first. Teamwork is highly valued and encouraged within the practice to promote a harmonious and productive environment. We hold great importance in ethical and responsible behaviour as essential to maintain the trust and loyalty of our patients and staff.
Practice Background
The Cobden Clinic opened in August 2013 to meet the health needs of the local community.
The community requested that the clinic address succession planning in the area. The GP shortage in rural areas has reached a crisis point where it is difficult to recruit GPs to rural areas especially to solo practices.
Cobden is a small rural community with 1 solo practice. Cobden District Health Service as part of its future planning strategy was looking to develop sustainable long term health services. This includes medical care, health promotion and prevention and supporting other relevant health-based services or programs.
Management of your Personal Health Information (Your Privacy – Our Policy):
The provision of quality health care requires a doctor/patient relationship of trust and confidentiality, and consistent with our commitment to quality care, this practice has developed a policy to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. If you would like more information about our privacy policy, please ask at reception. We abide by the ten National Privacy Principles
Third Party
A suitably qualified third person, i.e. a Medical Student or Registrar, is occasionally present at consultations. On arrival, patients are advised of the presence of the third person and are at liberty to request that they leave the room.
Periodically, Cobden Clinic may participate in research and quality assurance activities, to improve your health and wellbeing, community health care and practice management. Usually de-identified data is used, but should information that will identify you be required, you will be informed and given the opportunity to “opt out” of any involvement. You may choose to opt out of the above at any time in the future by advising your GP, practice nurse or receptionist.
